Spaloo was founded in 2005 by Bruce Santhuff. After a visit to Japan where he was intrigued by their “shower toilets”, Bruce envisioned the potential benefits of this product in the American marketplace.

Spaloo (the name combining a “spa-like” experience with “loo” -the term popular in Europe for “the bathroom”), which hit the American market in the fall of 2005, is a high-tech but user-friendly toilet seat that attaches to an existing toilet. It has a control panel with easy-to-understand buttons to wash back, wash front, and dry, as well as arrows to adjust water and air temperature, and to adjust the warmth of the seat. “The heated seat alone is worth the money,” says Santhuff, “especially during the cold winter months.”

Spaloo purports to be the first evolution in the bathroom since indoor plumbing 100 years ago. “I know it isn’t as sexy as some other new products in the home improvement or health care market,” Santhuff admits, “But, Spaloo is something that will affect everyone who uses it every day. That’s why I took a chance and started a company to sell Spaloo in the U.S. We’re truly building from the ground up. We have no investors, no large amount of capital. I just believe in this product, and my wife is behind me.”

The Santhuffs are working every day to get the message out  about the benefits of Spaloo. After all, the target market is pretty huge:  every toilet should have a  Spaloo!
